As part of the series Iris Blossoms, this oil painting of a Yellow Iris flower was born out of my garden, alongside its sidekick the Blue Iris. The very first beauty to show itself during my favorite season of Spring. I painted this with an urgency to lay down paint as quickly as I could to ensure I stayed in the moment to grasp its awe and relay that on canvas. This meant painting quickly in a wet on wet technique, known as Alla Prima.
