Artist Statement
My work moves between structure and spontaneity, between the analytical mindset of my design career and the instinctive freedom I find in painting. Working in mixed media and oil, I build surfaces through layering, collage, mark-making, and color, allowing each piece to evolve through both intention and discovery.
I’m drawn to experimentation and enjoy shifting between approaches depending on the idea or emotion driving the work. Some pieces explore larger themes such as power, perception, conflict, identity, and the instability of the world around us. Others emerge from observation, humor, memory, or the simple joy of making, capturing everyday subjects, personal challenges, or creative exercises that push me to work differently.
My mixed media process often incorporates pre-painted papers and fragmented elements that introduce unpredictability, while oil allows me to refine, unify, and add depth. This balance between control and release mirrors the way I experience both art and life.
Whether tackling more conceptual themes or lighter, playful studies, painting remains a space for exploration, reflection, and curiosity. I see each work as part of an ongoing conversation, an opportunity to question, respond, experiment, and remain open to where the process leads.
