An Abstract Reflection on Resilience, Loss, and Identity

This four-part abstract painting series is a response to the ongoing war in Ukraine—an exploration of conflict not through direct representation, but through emotional atmosphere and layered symbolism. Each piece reflects a distinct facet of the Ukrainian experience: dislocation, resistance, memory, and hope.

Through gestural marks, fractured compositions, and a palette anchored in yellows, blues, and ashen neutrals, the series seeks to translate the intangible weight of war into a visual language. Rather than depict literal scenes, the work invites viewers to feel the psychological texture of a nation in flux—its chaos, its endurance, and its spirit.

The series evolves across four canvases, each building on the last while holding its own unique tone. As a whole, it forms a narrative of transformation—an abstract tribute to a people holding onto identity in the face of devastation.
